Inspired by the Chinese zodiac, OX GHOST SNAKE DEMON is the bold first collection from Jade Song, the acclaimed author of CHLORINE and I LOVE YOU DON'T DIE.
Childhood best friends reunite, a housewife takes revenge on her suburban neighbours and a girl remembers her mother by the tiger stripes that adorn her skin. Love stories begin, a dragon rises and a disgruntled officer worker makes meals flavoured by those who have crossed them.
Each story, written in striking prose and laced with darkness, is inspired by the traits associated with a different animal in the Chinese zodiac and explores transformation: what it means to unapologetically become more ourselves outside the constraints of dominant cultural narratives.
